Breakdancing at the Tacoma Art Museum (Video)
About two weeks ago the Tacoma Art Museum was holding an outdoor art show with live painting, chalk artists, full drum band, and break dancers. The break dancers involved were from the Dance Broomz crew. It was fun to see them try something new and perform with the Stadium High school drum band. Take a look at the video below:
If you are interested in having the Dane Broomz perform at one of your events talk to Fab-5.org

Tollefson Plaza: Solved..sorta
Sometimes I look at the solutions David Boe from exit133 puts together and really wonder if we really need to get that complicated. Would a solution that’s already working in our other parks work with Tollefson Plaza? For under 1k could this solution work?

Movin 92.5 needs to go away. City of Tacoma go get’em!
Seriously Movin 92.5 do we need your ads right next to our freeway sign and on our fence of Almond Rocha, a Tacoma Icon. I think not. If you know people in high places let them know that they should take down the visual spam.
Help spread the word!

Ps feel free to leave a note for Movin 92.5 in the comments

Free Local Hiphop Music Sampler – The Taste of Tacoma
Many people are unfamiliar with all of the local hiphop talent we have here in Tacoma. In January I set out with the help of BlakFace Music to put together a free digital download sampler of some of the best MCs and Producers in the area. What you are going to hear through out this sampler is nothing but love for Tacoma and a huge sense of pride these individuals have for Tacoma.
People constantly compare our local hiphop music to whats on the radio. Do yourself a favor and give this sampler a try and who knows maybe you will become a fan.
Enjoy!

Save HellsKitchen This Friday, Feb 27
Hiphop Saves. When the local hiphop community found out that a favorite venue of its was going to get shutdown by the city of Tacoma for some new regulations now requiring a sprinkler system it quickly began planning a benefit to help raise awareness and money. Numbers going around for a sprinkler system it at around 60k. This is an outrageous number for a small live music venue here on 6th avenue.
Artists John Crown, Can-U, Todd Sykes, Evergreenone, Puget, Auras, SK, and DJ Reign have all donated their talent for the night. If your looking to support a good cause while listening to some extremely talented local artist be sure to stop by hells kitchen tomorrow. The cover is $5 but feel free to donate more.
Keep live music in Tacoma!

Othello, SK, Spaceman, and Can-U making faces melt
Last Wend was yet another amazing night for Fresh Blends at hellskitchen. One of my favorite performances of the night was Othello who came up from Oregon just for the night. His performance was so high energy and his passion for his music shined through. Checkout the video I took:
Also another favorite was the SK/Spaceman set from sportinlife, its really nice to see Hellskitchen to have a dedicated night for local underground hiphop that’s actually gaining momentum in the scene.
Visiting the satellite of satellite coffee

I’m known to drink coffee late at night… so I decided to take a stroll down 6th ave in hope of catching the new Satellite Coffee that just opened inside of Masa still open. It was about 6:50pm on Sunday when I finally arrived to my surprise they still were open! I read earlier on southsoundeats.com that they would only be open till like 5 but when asked they said they are still testing the waters out. Late night coffee for the win! As I sat outside in their table and chairs enjoying my coffee I got many strange looks. It was clear that this was something very new to Tacoma, unlike many other developed cites Tacoma has very few coffee places with outdoor seating at 7pm. Sitting their revealed another joy of 6th ave becoming more active at night. Beggers!
Sure is fun to sit back and watch Tacoma grow while enjoying a coffee next to the liquor store.
Triple Crown soft opening photos
Triple Crown Kings had a soft launch last Saturday, it was a a lot of fun, Sabzi didn’t really show up till like 10:30 though which was a bummer. The store is looking good though, bit more work is going to be done to the interior, going to bring in some art, etc. The store is officially open though, it was nice to see two clothing stores open at 6pm down on Pacific. I hope some other clothing stores work there way into that strip. Now all we need is that apple store moving in, come on steve

Fresh Air Pictures – Robert Daniel Gallery
Not going to lie, the air did start off really fresh then by the end of the night it was a bit musky. All was good though everyone was having a ton of fun, the drinks were pouring and only some of the artwork was stolen. Saw tons of familiar faces many of them the same from 100th monkey except this time there was awesome music so everyone was in a drunken dance trance.
The art was good like usual, many of the power players of the south sound were on showcase. Jeremy, Olson, Alice, Mary-Kate, etc. I hadn’t seen gryms work before thought it was pretty cool, the snacks were good too though I always get a little weirded out about big bowls of chips and such since most people don’t was their hands.
Oh yea, here are a few pics from the night. You might spot yourself.
Fresh air is much better then stale air right?
Tonight if your looking for something to do big poppa Matt is throwing another one of his fun parties up at the Robert Daniel Gallery. The lineup includes about 6 artists and 5 djs. It starts at about 10ish. For more information checkout the flier.
My prediction for the night includes lots of techno, lots of wine and much different crowd then what was up there at the 100th monkey.
