Tacoma Riots, Downtown Laughs

Figured I would beat Komo4 and King5 to the punch. The only one shutting down downtown was the flagger working on the building next to Subway.

It totally messed with my Pierce Transit trip home. I ride the ST 594 in from Seattle and I had to stop by UWT to pick up some books at the library. All Sound Transit and Pierce Transit buses were detoured off Pacific. I heard they setup a temporary transit center at Center and M. I should have stayed on the bus just to see that.

So I caught the Link, which was fortunately still running, and expected to see some mass disruption around UWT. Besides being surprised by a couple of guys decked out in swat gear running down the steps at UWT I didn’t see anything.

Now I guess I’ll have to take the Link back to the Dome Station to get the PT 13 home. Ugh.

(Edit: Pierce Transit came to their senses and bus traffic through downtown is back to normal.)

Yeah the extra security everywhere was pretty hilarious I even heard about a few local business owners packing heat ready to defend.

Got something to say?
