Sushi Revolution (Video+Pics)

Last night a couple of friends tipped us off to the grand opening of the newest sushi joint in town “Sushi Revolution.” Upon hearing that this is the type of place that involves a carosel and rediculous amounts of sushi up for human consumption, we were pretty excited.
Sushi Revolution is housed in a large, bright building on the 52nd block of Tacoma Mall Boulevard. The place seats up to 90 and chairs are lined up all the way around the double conveyor belt. Don’t be shy at this place. It’s likely that on a crowded night you could be sitting elbow to elbow with a perfect stranger. But don’t let that deter you. The array of sushi dishes hustling past you will definitely make a conversation. i.e. “what the heck is that?!” “Is that vegetarian?” “Are you sure?”

Sushi Revolution prices thier plates from $1 to $3.50 going up in 50 cent increments. They also serve hot miso soup, sake, and sapporo beer. And if you ask nicely, they have mochi ice cream (my favorite thing ever) in mango, green tea and red bean. They also have regular ice cream in the same flavors.
Lest i forget, It appears that Sushi Revolution will be hosting small art shows in it’s space. We didn’t get a good look but last night there was a showcase of neon light art pieces. If anybody has more information on Sushi Revolution’s artist showcase, you can email in-tacoma.net.
Now go forth and get thee some Sushi.
Address: 5225 Tacoma Mall Blvd., Suite D101

Where’s the time-lapse? The Sapporo in a box? Crucial stuff!

Great write up! I love these kind of sushi places. Especially good when you have to have some NOW!
Is is fairly easy to get items made that don’t happen to be on the conveyor belt?
Also, off topic, is there anywhere nearby to get some nice dim sum? Tired of treking up north when the craving hits.

I’ll ask my gf Ronbo she would know about the dim sum around here. And yes if you want to order something that is not on the belt just ask and they will make it for you

I like sushi! I love it when it goes around in circles! But how many times can it go in a circle before it goes bad? Will your sushi kill me if I wait too long? Kotaete Kudasai. Ja ne!

Not sure if they have a system in place to take off old sushi I sure hope so! I did notice little stickers on some of them so maybe that has to do with how long they have been out

I believe they have a systematic indicator of how long the sushi has been out on the conveyor belt. They mark it with cover with stickers.

I meant to say they have a systematic indicator by marking the covers. =)

Very Different and a great place to grab a quick bite or even enjoy some sake with friends. Even the so called “fast-food” restaurants don’t let you get to your food this quick. Superb service must-go restaurant!

Just ate there. Pretty good. I spent a pretty penny some how. Probably the saki but I highly recommend their unfiltered sake.

Oh what a wonderful surprise. My daughter showed me the treat of my life. Good luck and best wishes in your business. The food and surroundings are great. Friendliness with a capital “F”. Our new favorite spot for lunch and dinner every day of the week. Prices are perfect.
